NASA Mission Page Example

For decades, individual NASA programs and centers managed their web presence independently—resulting in more than 3,000 fragmented sites with inconsistent structure, accessibility, and storytelling.

I led a multidisciplinary team responsible for research, experience design, content strategy, accessibility, and system definition, working at platform scale to unify this ecosystem around a planet-centered, user-first design approach.

Over two years, we developed a comprehensive design system and visual language that modernized NASA’s digital presence while remaining deeply grounded in its history and identity. The result is a robust, flexible foundation that supports accessibility, clarity, and narrative—enabling NASA teams to create coherent, high-quality experiences across a wide range of missions and audiences.

Interactive Feature: NASA: 24 Hours on the ISS


Designing NASA’s Next-Generation Streaming Experience (NASA+)

NASA set out to evolve NASA Television from a traditional, linear broadcast channel into a modern, on-demand streaming platform—designed to work seamlessly across web, mobile, and consumer OTT devices.

I led the design of a cross-platform experience that reimagined how audiences discover, explore, and engage with NASA content in a nonlinear, streaming-first environment. The work focused on creating a cohesive experience system that could scale across devices while remaining intuitive, accessible, and aligned with NASA’s storytelling mission.

The result was a flexible, future-ready product direction—now launched as NASA+—that modernizes how NASA delivers content to the public while supporting a wide range of platforms, formats, and viewing contexts.

Eyes on the Solar System — Interactive Scientific Visualization

I provided creative direction and UX leadership for Eyes on the Solar System, an interactive application developed with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory to help the public explore complex, real-time space and planetary data.

The work included a redesign of the core interface as well as the creation of a story-driven presentation mode using scrollytelling—making complex scientific concepts more accessible without sacrificing accuracy or technical depth.

We also provided direction for the motion and animation approach, shaping a more cinematic experience while preserving scientific integrity and data fidelity. The result balances clarity, narrative, and precision—allowing users to meaningfully engage with dynamic astronomical data at multiple levels of understanding.

Reimagining the Future of Shopping at Amazon

I led and contributed to numerous envisioning and prototyping initiatives at Amazon, exploring how emerging technologies could reshape everyday commerce. One of the most impactful projects focused on shopping without the traditional checkout ritual.

The work examined how authentication, identity, and payment could become implicit rather than transactional, enabling seamless purchasing across a wide range of contexts. We designed and prototyped end-to-end experience concepts for:

  • A high-end brick-and-mortar retail environment

  • Grocery shopping scenarios

  • Next-generation vending machines

  • In-car experiences (e.g., parking and contextual purchases)

  • Fire TV

  • Alexa-enabled devices

These concepts explored scenarios such as ordering and paying for a product through a shared or ambient device, rethinking ownership, trust, and authorization in multi-user environments.

The outcome was a set of future-state experience frameworks that helped teams reason about identity, payment, and interaction beyond screens—informing long-term product strategy across Amazon’s ecosystem.

ChronoZoom: Microsoft Research

ChronoZoom (also known as Big Time), an interactive, zoomable timeline designed to help people understand 14.7 billion years of history—from the Big Bang to the present.

Developed in collaboration with researchers at Microsoft Research, ChronoZoom explored how interactive visualization could support education and sense-making at extreme scales. Users could fluidly navigate across orders of magnitude—moving from cosmic events to the emergence of life, human history, and the industrial era—within a single, continuous experience.

The project was grounded in the emerging interdisciplinary field of Big History, which brings together cosmology, geology, biology, and human history into a unified narrative. The challenge was not just visualizing time, but designing an interface that made vast, abstract concepts comprehensible, explorable, and engaging for learners.

My work focused on envisioning and product design, helping shape how complex scientific and historical data could be structured, navigated, and understood through interaction.

Pilot Flying J

Designing a future smart experience for long haul truckers

Lots of field research at truck stops. It was fascinating research and design.

The research & Design focused on Onboarding & registration, parking & reservations, refueling (both 18 wheel and 4 wheel), loyalty & rewards program.

This project also involved building a full-scale fuel pump constructed from foam core and an ipad that we could test in the lab.
